Stress Relief Heat Treatment

Stress relief is a thermal process primarily aimed at releasing internal stresses that accumulate in the material during processing operations such as bending, coiling, welding, or machining.

These internal stresses can lead to distortion, unwanted deformation, or reduced long-term durability if not properly treated. During the process, the component is heated to a moderate temperature, held there for a defined period, and then cooled in a controlled manner.

This allows the metallic structure to remain intact while balancing and releasing internal stresses. Stress relief does not significantly alter the hardness or crystalline structure of the material but provides dimensional stability and better resistance to fatigue and repeated loads.
